Race Communications presents Cisco novelties for campus networks.
Race Communications company presents
new Cisco Systems products
designed for building campus networks on the Russian market.
The newly developed models 2948, 4000 and 6000
of the popular Catalyst switch family
allow you to create networks with a number of users
up to 200 or more, and Selsius IP phones simplify
organization of telephone communication on the scale of the office.
All switch models support
means of QoS (Quality of Service, quality of service) and
organization of virtual LAN (VLAN), have
high performance and have a low
price per port. The devices of the Catalyst family
run under the IOS operating system
(Internetworking Operating System), common to all network
Cisco products, which guarantees full
compatibility of the new and previously developed
equipment.
The Catalyst 2948, 4000 and 6000 switches provide
duplex data transmission with allocation
bandwidth for each
user, preventing packet collision
(collision) in the local network. QoS support allows you to
use new devices to transfer
multimedia traffic (voice, data, video) with
the appointment of the necessary quality of service
for latency-sensitive applications.
According to Alexander Mikhlin, Race Manager
Communications for Cisco products, the Catalyst 2948 model,
which performs level 2 switching, is ideal
suitable for a small office LAN (24-50
users). This switch is available in
a fixed configuration: 48 ports 10/100 Mbit/s
Ethernet and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports. On all ports
aggregation technology is supported
EtherChannel traffic, bandwidth
The switching mechanism is 24 Gbit/s.
More powerful "floor level" switches
The Catalyst 4000 and 6000 are designed to build
medium and large networks (50-400 users).
The 4000 models have a level 2 switching mechanism with
a bandwidth of 24 Gbit/s;
up to 96 ports can be configured in these devices
10/100 Mbps Ethernet or up to 36 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
Fault tolerance is achieved by installing
an additional power supply, supporting
UplinkFast/PortFast protocols when connecting
users and Fast/Gigabit EtherChannel when connecting to
the backbone.
The bandwidth of the switching mechanism
of the 6000 models is from 32 to 256 Gbit/s. These switches
process up to 200 million packets per second and
provides service of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels.
The fault-tolerant modular Catalyst 6000 devices
support up to 384 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports and up to 130
Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The release of a new NetFlow expansion board has also begun
Feature Card II (NFFC II) for Catalyst 5000 switches, which
allows you to perform level 3 switching,
filtering protocols, providing QoS on
based on the information of the L3 and L2 levels. Models 5000
it is used to work in networks with a number of users
100-200 or more.
Race Communications experts believe that a good
addition to Cisco LAN products will be
IP phones of the company she recently acquired
Selsius. By implementing Voice over IP (VoIP, voice over IP) technology,
they will help to telephone a new office or
expand the network of telephone numbers when
the possibilities of the institutional PBX have been exhausted.
The IP phone is connected directly to the LAN or
in parallel to the switch port (without occupying the
data port), providing transmission
voice traffic over an IP network. The phone has built - in
the voice compression module according to the G.723 algorithm and the Ethernet port.
"The emergence of new Cisco products implementing
Level 3 switching, QoS management, technology
VoIP and much more, greatly simplifies
creation of networks for the transmission of any type of traffic with
minimal costs and a high degree of
payback," Dmitry Orlov noted,
Technical Director of Race Communications.
