On April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the Vostok-1 spacecraft and made an orbital flyby of the planet Earth for the first time in the world. The flight in near-Earth space lasted 108 minutes. Since then, man has become closer to space.
