Polycom systems of the IPower 600 line are being discontinued.

Race Communications informs that since October 2003, Polycom has been withdrawing the IPower 600 line of VCS equipment from production.

Race experts recommend using instead of the removed ruler:

  • PC-based VCS solutions: Hi-End models of the IPower 9000 series, superior to the IPower 600 in image quality due to higher transmission speeds (up to 4 Mbit/s) and functionality (built-in MCU for 12 users and extended support for T.120).
  • Video conferencing terminals of the Settop box class: the recently announced Polycom VSX 7000 system, which is positioned as a replacement model for the iPower680. VSX 7000 is built on the basis of a dual specialized Equator processor with support for the recently adopted H.264 video compression standard and proprietary People+Content technology with a Visual Concert device.

The cost of Polycom VSX 7000 is $7700, IPower 9000 - from $15,000, delivery from the Race Communications warehouse in Moscow or within 4-6 weeks.
