Race Communications introduces the Catalyst 3500 XL switches.

Race Communications, one of the leading
Russian system integrators, presents
a new family of Cisco Catalyst 3500 XL switches
Systems, the world leader in the production of network
equipment. A family of desktop switches
The Catalyst 3500 XL for 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet networks
is highly scalable and
provides high performance,
manageability, flexibility and investment protection.

The new family of stackable
switches includes the Catalyst 3512 XL, 3524 XL and 3508 XL models.
They use Cisco Systems technology to build
switching clusters, which allows you to move
from traditional stack building schemes to a new
level, when the network administrator manages
geographically remote switches via
a single IP address using a standard Web browser.

The switches of the Catalyst 3500 XL family
are designed for medium-sized enterprises
and groups of users with great
growth potential who need high
performance, a network with a simple topology and
low maintenance costs, as well
as the ability to quickly integrate into existing
network infrastructure.

All models of the family are supplied with
two versions of IOS (Internetworking Operation Software) by the company
Cisco Systems — Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition. Devices with
Enterprise Edition software have an expanded set of
features, including support for
virtual LAN management protocols (standard 802.1Q and
proprietary Cisco ISL VLAN), TACACS+ authorization functions, as
well as fault tolerance
based on Uplink Fast technology.

The Catalyst 3512 XL model is a high—
performance switch
designed to cluster a
small group of 2900 XL or 1900 XL switches.
The device has 12 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports and

2 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

The Catalyst 3524 XL switches are used to
connect end users and servers.
They can be combined into a stack and used to
organize clusters. The devices are equipped with 24
10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports and 2 Gigabit Ethernet GBIC ports.

The Catalyst 3508 XL model is used to
aggregate Gigabit Ethernet traffic from a group
of switches or servers using converters
Cisco GigaStack or 1000 BaseX GBIC.

Cisco Switch Clustering software
allows you to cluster up to 16
switches.

The Catalyst 3500 XL, 2900 XL and 1900 XL switches can
be combined into a common network regardless of their
location and managed through one

IP address. The Catalyst 3500 XL switch kit includes
Cisco Visual Switch Manager (CVSM 2.0) web-based management tool
that allows a network administrator to monitor the
status of a switch cluster and manage it from
anywhere on the network using a standard
browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape
Navigator. CVSM 2.0 runs directly on
the switch and facilitates management both at
the network level as a whole and at the device level,
including virtual local Area Network
(VLAN) management, port configuration and monitoring.
