Introducing new models of Cisco Catalyst 2950 second-level switches.

Cisco Catalyst 2950 is a new series of low-cost , high-performance, non-blocking second-level switches that replaced the popular Catalyst 2900 XL series.

Switches of this series have high performance, advanced traffic management capabilities (ACLs, Rate Limiting, etc.), support a wide range of copper and optical interfaces with the possibility of combining by technology EtherChannel/ GigabitEtherChannel.

The 2950 series switches can be used as workgroup switches with the ability to connect servers via gigabit interfaces, or to connect workgroups to the LAN core using high-speed gigabit interfaces.

The 2950 series switches support clustering technology. Up to 16 switches of the 1900, 2900 XL, 2900 LRE XL, 2950, 3500 XL, 3550 series can be controlled as a single device via a standard browser.

In terms of performance and functionality, the Catalyst 2950 series it can be positioned between the 2900 XL series (discontinued ) and the older 3500 XL/ 3550 series (at the same time, the 2950 series switches have a number of features that are not available in the series models Cisco Catalyst 3500 XL).
