Press release: Race Communications begins deliveries of the Motorola Vanguard 6435 and 6455 multiservice routers.

Race Communications, one of the leading Russian system integrators, in December begins deliveries of new multiservice routers Vanguard 6435 and 6455 of the Internet and Networking Group (ING) division of Motorola, the world leader in the production of access devices and IP telephony tools. The Vanguard 6435 and 6455 devices are a development of the 6400 family, which over the past year has received about ten awards from the most reputable computer and online publications and exhibitions. The 6435 model is available in a compact desktop case (the same as the 6425 model), and the 6455 is available in a 19-inch rack-mount case (similar to the 6430 and 6450). The new routers are distinguished by an improved motherboard and a more productive RISC processor PowerPC.

The Vanguard 6435 and 6455 motherboards are equipped with the following ports: 10 Mbit/s Ethernet, asynchronous (transmission speed up to 115 kbit/s), two universal high-speed serial (V.24/35/36/11/ X.21, up to 2 Mbit/s), a port for connecting the control console. Additionally, you can install three daughter boards with different interfaces: universal serial; ISDN BRI; Fractional E1/T1; analog telephone interfaces FXS, FXO, E&M; digital telephone interfaces ISDN BRI-2S0; as well as RemoteVU video monitoring boards.

In addition, an advanced 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet card can be installed in one of the connectors. This allows you to connect new routers to a Fast Ethernet network or to two different Ethernet segments, which is especially important when building networks with high requirements for protection against unauthorized access and for organizing access to the Internet from a corporate network.

The Model 6455 also has connectors for installing two expansion cards (Option Card) with a high density of ports (4 V ports).24/35/36/11/ X.21) and with the Token Ring interface.

The new products support Security Applications Ware data encryption and data compression hardware. The hardware implementation allows you to perform these functions without reducing the performance of routers.

All Vanguard devices run the Motorola Open Networking System (ONS) operating system, which has a rich library of network protocols: IP, IPX, AppleTalk, SNA (IBM mainframe networks), X.25, Frame Relay, PPP, Multilink PPP, etc. Thanks to advanced traffic management tools (Type of Service, Time of Week, prioritization by port number, protocol type, network addresses, etc.) Motorola equipment increases the efficiency of using the available bandwidth of the communication channel.

The Vangurd 6435 and 6455 routers come with ONS version 5.4 OS and provide a performance of 5000 IP packets per second. In future ONS versions, the performance will be increased to 15,000 IP packets per second.

In the configuration of the voice gateway, Vanguard devices support the transmission of telephone traffic over IP networks (Voice over IP, VoIP) and Frame Relay (VoFR), voice compression using CV-SELP algorithms (developed by Motorola), G.723.1 and G.729 (included in the H.323 standard). The implementation in the ONS OS of many functions inherent in modern PBX (multi-channel telephone, centralized table of numbers, conversion of telephone interfaces and alarm schemes) allows you to create integrated telecommunications systems based on Vanguard with simultaneous transmission of multimedia traffic (telephony, video) and data. Due to the combination of many types of traffic in a single information system, significant savings are achieved necessary for the creation and maintenance of the telecommunications infrastructure of a modern enterprise.

At the beginning of the second quarter, it is planned to release Option Card cards for Vanguard 6450 and 6455 devices with support for connecting to the telephone network via the E1 (ICM30) and ISDN PRI interfaces. With their help, these devices will be able to process up to 60 voice channels. Motorola is also developing expansion cards with a 2 Mbit/s ATM interface and DSL modems.

The retail price of Motorola Vanguard 6435 and 6455 devices in the minimum configuration at Race Communications is $2509 and $3496, respectively.
