Press release: Race Communications increases the density of voice ports in Motorola equipment.

Race Communications, one of the leading Russian system integrators, in December begins deliveries of new digital signal processing (DSP) modules for Vanguard 6560 multiservice routers of the Internet and Networking Group (ING) division of Motorola, the world leader in the production of access devices and IP telephony tools.

Motorola ING has started mass production of expansion cards for Vanguard 6560 devices, which are capable of processing up to 32 or 48 voice channels. The new boards work in conjunction with existing ISDN PRI/E1 dual-port boards. One ISDN PRI/E1 card and one 48-channel card or up to two 32-channel cards can be installed in the Vanguard 6560 router. Thanks to this, in applications with dual E1 connection, the Vanguard 6560 multiservice device provides transmission of 60 voice channels over an IP or Frame Relay network. Multichannel boards perform voice compression according to G algorithms.723.1 and G.729a (included in the H.323 standard).

Support for high-density DSP modules is implemented in the Open Networking System operating System Release 5.4 Point 2. In addition, ONS 5.4 supports the operation of Motorola network devices with Gatekeeper class software from third-party manufacturers. Thanks to this, telephone operators can introduce communication services using PIN cards, prepaid, organize a voice help desk, various billing schemes, etc.

"The launch of voice boards with a high port density began in an exceptionally timely manner," said Rafael Shamiev, Product Manager at Race Communications. "Right now, providers are showing special interest in both multi-channel voice gateways and gatekeeper programs."

In the voice gateway configuration, Vanguard devices support the transmission of telephone traffic over IP (Voice over IP, VoIP) and Frame Relay (VoFR) networks. The implementation in the ONS OS of many functions inherent in modern PBX (multi-channel telephone, centralized table of numbers, conversion of telephone interfaces and alarm circuits) allows you to create integrated telecommunications systems based on Vanguard with simultaneous transmission of multimedia traffic (telephony, video) and data. Due to the combination of many types of traffic in a single information system, significant savings are achieved necessary for the creation and maintenance of the telecommunications infrastructure of a modern enterprise.

The retail price of 32- and 48-channel boards at Race Communications is $4897 and $7819, respectively. The use of new boards reduces the cost of one DSP processor by 40%.
