Press release: Race Communications starts delivering Cisco QoS Policy Manager 2.0.

Race Communications Company announces the start of deliveries of the Cisco QoS Policy Manager (QPM) 2.0 package. The new version of the QoS Policy Manager software provides additional service quality management (QoS) capabilities, making the implementation of QoS simpler and more reliable. QPM 2.0 combines advanced management of multiservice networks with data, voice and video transmission, as well as support for a wide range of new devices.

The QPM 2.0 software is designed for integrated service quality management and is focused on the networks of large companies. New features of QPM 2.0 include detection of changes in hardware settings and their correction, means of convenient marking and grouping of objects, interfaces and VLANs. In addition , administrators have the ability to select any of the previous policies, as well as add QoS settings to the equipment. An additional advantage is traffic management with selective packet blocking on specified ports. Such “proactive” blocking of traffic guarantees the level of service and improves the use of network resources.

Cisco QoS Policy Manager allows you to define and use QoS settings in conjunction with other services that provide prioritization mechanisms for real-time traffic generated by voice gateways, IP phones and video. Thanks to centralized monitoring and the use of automated policies, QPM 2.0 is an effective solution for service quality management, evenly distributing network load and meeting the requirements of critical network applications.

QPM 2.0 adds new functionality for managing content-dependent (Content aware) networks. NBAR technology is supported (Network Based Application Recognition), improved QoS management with filtering of new protocols, packet coloring and bandwidth limitation. This allows you to classify applications and fully control the transmission of network content.

Complementing the architecture for voice, video and data integration (Cisco AVVID), QPM 2.0 includes a wide range of functionality designed specifically for voice over IP (VoIP), and allows for fine -tuning of QoS. QPM 2.0 provides comprehensive service quality management for multiservice networks, supporting QoS mechanisms such as IP prioritization (Real-time Transport Protocol), data fragmentation (Link Fragmentation and Interleave and Frame Relay Fragmentation), traffic generation (Traffic Shaping), header compression (cRTP) and queue Prioritization (Low Latency Queuing).

Race Communications technical specialists believe that the use of QoS Policy Manager 2.0 in combination with the recently announced Service Management software Solution is a powerful administration tool and forms a complete system for managing networks and service quality.
