The specialists of Race Communications, one of the leading Russian system integrators, were among the first in Russia to be certified for Watson DSL equipment by Schmid Telecom, the leader of the European "last mile" solutions market. The products of the Swiss manufacturer have proven themselves well in our country.
Less than a year ago, Schmid Telecom switched to a scheme of work in Russia through several distributors, an official representative office of the company opened in Moscow in winter, and in July the first seminar with certification of partners from CIS countries took place. "The dynamics of Schmid Telecom's direct presence in Russia can only please," said Rafael Shamiev, Senior Product Manager at Race Communications. "We are trying to keep up with our supplier: we were among the first to sign a distribution agreement, and were among the first to receive training and certification."
In addition to the Watson 2, Watson 3 and Watson 4 equipment widely used on Russian communication lines, the promising Watson 5 and Watson Links families have become the subject of study. The first of them is based on the G.SHDSL standard approved in the spring of 2001, which is expected to become the most popular DSL technology in the next few years.
Watson Links products use CAP modulation and are optimized for trunk telephone cables with a wire diameter of 1.2 and 0.9 mm. Thanks to special technical solutions, the Watson Links system is capable of servicing communication lines with a length of over 100 km with a distance between regenerators of more than 22 km.
