Race Communications begins deliveries of the Vanguard 6400.

Race Communications Company,
    specializing in system integration in
    areas of corporate and telecommunications
systems, at the end of May, began to supply its
dealers and customers with new multifunctional
    Vanguard devices     6400 by http://www.mot.com/MIMS/ISG/">Motorola.

The first two models of this series are 6430 and 6450
significantly expand the capabilities of the popular
    Vanguard families.
Their main purpose is to transmit
multiprotocol (IP, IPX, SNA, AppleTalk, etc.) and
multimedia (telephone conversations,
fax documents, video) traffic over the Frame Relay and X.25 networks.

Vanguard 6400 series products are built according to
    multiprocessor architecture
    “slave—master" and are equipped
with a Motorola RISC PowerPC CPU and three
    communication processors Motorola 68302.
There are two serial ports on the motherboard
(interfaces are supported     V.24, V.35, V.36, X.21), one asynchronous port (speed
    transmission up to 115.2 kbit/s), 10 Mbit/s Ethernet port (10BaseT and
AUI) and a port for connecting the management console.

The 6430 model has three connectors for
installing daughter boards used in other
Vanguard devices (series 100, 300, 305 and 320). Today Motorola
    releases daughter boards with serial
    interface (Serial Daughter Card, supported
    interfaces V.24, V.35, V.36, X.21), voice interface
(Voice Daughter Card, FXS interfaces for connecting
a telephone or fax machine and FXO for
connecting a PBX) and ISDN interface. In the summer, a
daughter board with two FXS ports
will appear, and the release of voice-activated boards is scheduled for 1998.     the E&M interface for connecting to the PBX,
    three-channel and single-channel FE1 boards.

The 6450 model, in addition to three connectors for
daughter boards, also has two connectors for
installing expansion cards (Option Card). These boards
connected to a PCI bus with bandwidth
1 Gbit/s. Motorola offers expansion boards with
    four serial ports
(V.24, V.35, V.36, X.21 interfaces are supported).
Expansion cards with more than
high port density and new types
interfaces, in particular, with eight asynchronous
ports, 100 Mbit/s Ethernet interfaces, Token-Ring, FUNI,
etc.

Also in the summer, industrial
production of RemoteVU daughter boards will begin,
    intended for broadcasting video data
security surveillance systems over transmission networks
    data. RemoteVU technology fully supports
    standard security equipment
    video monitoring and provides significant
    savings to enterprises with geographically
remote branches and facilities that require
visual control. More about RemoteVU technology

the architecture of the Vanguard 6400 series devices allows
    increase their functionality without reducing
    overall performance. Operations, active
    consuming computing resources,
run on a central RISC PowerPC processor,
    whereas communication processors
provide data exchange between the system
bus, daughter boards and expansion boards.
