Race Communications presents the Avidia ADSL multiplexer from ADC (PairGain).

Race Communications company specializes
in system integration in the field of corporate
    and telecommunication networks. Significant
some of the company's customers are providers
access to the Internet. World Wide Web technologies are increasingly
they are used in large enterprises, therefore
    bandwidth requirements are growing
the “last mile" of the Internet.

Meeting the wishes of its customers, Race
    Communications, the largest Russian distributor
firms ADC (PairGain) (Digital Subscriber Line, digital subscriber line). Total
There are more than 1 million xDSL devices installed in the world
this company. Based on many years
of accumulated experience, PairGain has developed Avidia —
    broadband access hub
    integrated data and
voice services, which allows you to install up to 1296
    ports in one chassis.

The Avidia architecture is based on
fully distributed ATM technology (asynchronous
transfer mode) and provides packet and
channel switching. The new hub is fault tolerant,
allows for the build-up and supports QoS
(quality of service) tools, which is necessary when
organizing provider networks. Avidia supports
a wide range of protocols and services, including G.lite,
DMT ADSL, SDSL, T1, E1 and Frame Relay.

The Avidia system can be configured as
DSLAM device (DSL Access multiplexer), server
access or hub connection of remote
local networks. The most useful new
the hub will be for high-speed
    Internet access, telecommuting (work
employees at home) and in corporate campus
    networks.

ADC (PairGain) offers the Avidia system in various
    versions: chassis for 21 boards
extensions, telephone sealer for 240 lines,
a hub for five expansion boards, etc. Boards
the extensions have different port densities (from
one to 24) and support a variety of
interfaces: OC-3c/STM-1, DMT RADSL/G.lite, Rate Adaptive SDSL, etc
. The release of inversion boards is planned
Multiplexer E1/ATM, T1/E1 Circuit Emulation Card and 10/100 BaseT, as
well as a chassis with increased port density and
a hub for three expansion cards.

The new Megabit Modem devices use
    specialized Falcon chips,
developed by ADC (PairGain), which allows
    achieve maximum transmission speeds,
provided by the G.lite, DMT ADSL standards, as well as
provide ATM transmission over ADSL and voice transmission
    without installing linear separation filters.

With the help of Megabit Modem products, digital service providers
networks can quickly organize the provision of
remote access services to the widest range
customers, including those who do not fit the usual
    ADSL technology: users who require
voice transmission with high quality, but want
    install modems yourself. Specially
for such clients , PairGain has contributed to the software
providing modems with PriorityVoice, InstaConnect functions,
    EasySession and AccessGain.

    The PriorityVoice function provides simultaneous
voice and data transmission with maximum
speeds available in ADSL, without installation
separators and microfilters. Thanks to this
there is no need for inspection of the client's
connections by representatives of the provider to
check the correctness of equipment switching.

InstaConnect technology guarantees the establishment of
ADSL connections for about one second,
whereas usually this operation takes 10 seconds or
more. InstaConnect also tracks the status
    voice connection and optimizes
ADSL connection for data transmission if
the phone conversation is over.

The subscriber can set the connection parameters to
the provider from the browser using the functions
EasySession. The settings include the choice of
Internet provider, type and speed of connection, etc.

AccessGain tools provide full control over
access and data exchange between remote
    networks. AccessGain supports connections
point—to-point, bridging connections according to RFC
1483, Address translation (Network Address Translation), DHCP services
and DNS. Routing and functionality support
The bridge allows using Megabit Modem devices
    organize a permanent connection between
local networks. Such functionality
    especially important for corporate clients,
who need a connection between the central
    office and branches.

ADC (PairGain) offers several Megabit Modem models.
The 500L product is intended for individual
users and is used for data transmission by
one copper telephone pair using the G-lite DMT protocol
ADSL. The modem supports the PriorityVoice and
provides a transfer rate of up to 1.5 Mbit/s from
the provider to the client (downstream) and up to 512 kbit/s in
the opposite direction (upstream). The 500L model is also
capable of broadcasting ATM cells by
ADSL connection for transparent connection to
the central ATM backbone. In one device 500L
three virtual channels can be configured,
thanks to which users can initiate
    a session with various providers.

The 600F model is designed to work in small
local networks and will be convenient for telecommuters and
users in branch offices. It
supports DMT ADSL protocol and transfer rates
    up to 7.5/1 Mbit/s downstream/upstream. 600F is installed without
    separation filter and provides
broadcast of ATM cells via ADSL, simultaneous
holding of three point-to-point (PPP) sessions, as
well as the organization of 12 virtual channels.

The 700F device is designed for business applications
with developed LAN. In addition to DMT ADSL, it supports
PPP protocol, bridge functionality according to RFC
1483, routing and address management. 700F modem
equipped with a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet port and capable of servicing
more than 1000 users, 32 simultaneous PPP sessions
    and 32 virtual channels.

The 710F modem is installed at the provider (or in
central office) for the organization of one
ADSL lines. Model 710F supports DMT ADSL, 10/100 Mbps
Ethertnet and is able to exchange data with modems
    100L, 100F, 500L, 600F, 700F and 710F.

The 300S product provides Ethernet frame transfer over
one copper telephone line using Rate technology
Adaptive SDSL (with automatic speed adjustment
transfers). Megabit Modem 300S is equipped with a 10BaseT port and serves
for symmetric data transmission at speeds up to
1.5 Mbit/s. This device performs the role of
Ethernet bridge between remote and central
network segments. Such functionality is often
required in office building complexes and
corporate campuses. In such environments, complex
network management and interaction functions
    executes the Avidia hub.

Megabit Modem 100L and 100F are inexpensive
    network interface cards for connection
individual subscribers to an Internet provider or
to the central office. The 100F model provides
DMT ADSL data transmission at 7.5/1 Mbit/s
    downstream/upstream, and 100L — 1.5 Mbit/s downstream and 512 kbit/s upstream.

PairGain's new Megabit Modem products are built on
based on industry standards and compatible with
DSLAM devices and modems from other
manufacturers that support open
    standards.

The Avidia hub and Megabit Modem products of the new
generation form a complete solution for
Internet providers, alternative telephone
operators and companies with their own
corporate networks. Race Communications Company
It will start delivering these products to the Russian
market in the first quarter of 1999.

Race Communications has a rich experience of creating on the basis of
instruments of PairGain and other manufacturers of complex
