Race introduces a new interface card for the Cisco 1700.

New The 4-port card supports up to 4 telephone and/or fax machines in FXS (foreign-exchange-stantion) mode and up to 4 analog trunks in DID (direct-inward-dial) mode. The mode is selected at the port level, i.e. some ports on the map can work in one mode, some in another. Some characteristics of the map are given in the table:

To Cisco routers of the 1751-V series up to 2 cards can be installed, and up to 4 cards can be installed in the 1760-V series router, receiving 8 and 16 FXS/DID ports, respectively.

To process the required number of voice streams in routers , it is necessary to provide an appropriate number of DSP processors. When using medium-complexity codecs (G.711, G.726, G.729), 2 DSP processors are required for each VIC-4FXS/DID card . More precisely , the required number of DSPs, depending on the codecs used and the number of channels, can be calculated using a web calculator (access to the CCO is required).

The card is available to order. The cost according to the GPL price list is $800, delivery from the Race Communications warehouse in Moscow or within 6-8 weeks.
