Race introduces the new Cisco ASA 5550 Adaptive Security Appliance.

Race Communications presents the Cisco ASA 5550 Adaptive Security Appliance, a new device in the popular Cisco ASA 5500 series of multifunctional security devices. The new multifunctional software and hardware complex Cisco ASA 5550 Adaptive Security Appliance is positioned to implement security in high-speed corporate networks or service provider networks and is designed to provide protection against network attacks, to delimit access to network resources, to protect interaction with remote users, antivirus protection and other security tasks.

The new Cisco ASA 5550 model provides connectivity at gigabit speeds over copper and optical interfaces where a high density of virtual interfaces (VLANs) is supported. The modular architecture of the Cisco ASA 5550 Adaptive Security Appliance allows you to smoothly increase security capabilities, saving investments and providing reliable protection for a growing network. An additional license provides support for up to 5,000 SSL VPN tunnels per Cisco ASA 5550 device; the basic configuration supports 5,000 IPsec VPN tunnels. The performance of Cisco ASA 5550 Adaptive Security Appliances can also be increased by combining multiple devices into a cluster. The Cisco ASA 5550 supports up to 10 devices in a cluster with a maximum of 50,000 SSL VPN tunnels or 50,000 IPsec VPN tunnels per cluster.

Despite the fact that the claimed performance of the Cisco PIX 535 for UDP traffic is higher than that of the Cisco ASA 5550, the actual performance of the Cisco ASA 5550 Adaptive Security Appliance is at least twice as high as that of the Cisco PIX 535 in similar conditions. The high bandwidth, transmission speed and scalability of the new Cisco ASA 5550 make it the best choice for modern high-speed networks.

Main advantages

  • More than twofold increase in firewall performance
  • The largest number of simultaneously supported VPN sessions
  • High speed of creating/opening new VPN sessions
  • Doubling the number of IPsec VPN tunnels
  • Support for SSL VPN remote access tools
  • Ability to cluster with VPN balancing for IPsec and SSL tunnels
  • The best price/opportunity ratio
  • Support Gigabit Ethernet over a copper line
