Race introduces a new multifunctional Cisco ASA 5500 firewall.
Race Communications begins deliveries of a new family of multifunctional Cisco ASA 5500 firewalls. The Cisco ASA 5500 family combines the functions of a firewall, an IPS/IDS intrusion detection (prevention) system, a network antivirus, and a VPN hub. As a central element of network security, the new firewalls allow you to block attacks before they get inside the network.
The new device has built-in application-level controls that were previously used in Cisco IPS 4200 devices. They make it possible to monitor how applications use network resources, monitor the work of commands and protocols, identify anomalies in the network and promptly respond to attacks by intruders, viruses and worms. Firewall functions are borrowed from the well-established Cisco PIX Firewall 500 family of firewalls.
The VNP Virtual Private Networking tools previously available in the Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 family are now also integrated into Cisco ASA 5500 devices. At the same time, IPsec and SSL VPN are supported. QoS quality of service is also supported for data transmitted over a secure connection.
New devices are easily integrated into existing networks. This is achieved through the implementation of a large number of functions, such as:
- Layer 2 transparent firewall
- Services Virtualization – a method for creating virtual devices
- Support for the 802.1Q protocol
- Support for dynamic routing protocol OSPF
- IPv6 and PIM protocol support
- QoS Quality of Service assurance mechanisms
