The Cisco switch family has been replenished with a new model - Catalyst 3550-24-FX-SMI.

The Cisco Catalyst 3550 series of switches has been supplemented with a new model - the Catalyst 3550-24-FX-SMI. A distinctive feature of this switch is that it has 24 ports 100Base-FX with standard MTRJ type optical connectors. The other features of this model are identical to the Catalyst 3550-24-SMI, the switch has similar functionality and performance.

As with most switches included in the Cisco Catalyst 3550 series, in addition to fixed 100Base-FX optical ports, the new switch also has two slots for gigabit media converters (GBICs).

100Base-FX optical ports allow you to connect a sufficiently large number of workstations and servers at a distance of up to 2 km by fiber optic cable. The use of a fiber-optic cable for data transmission avoids the influence of electromagnetic interference and eliminates unauthorized interception of confidential data. Multimode fiber optic cable with a diameter of 50/125 or 62.5/125 microns is supported.

The Catalyst 3550-24-FX-SMI switch comes with a standard version of SMI software (Standard Multilayer Software), which supports traffic switching at the 2nd level and new intelligent services that improve the functioning of the network. It is possible to upgrade the software to an enhanced version of EMI (Enhanced Multiplayer Software), which supports high-speed routing of IP traffic and many other useful functions.

The cost of a Cisco Global switch The Price List is $6,495. To update the functionality of the software to the extended version EMI is supplied by EMI upgrade (CD-3550-EMI=) cost $1,995. The Catalyst 3550-24-FX-SMI switch is available for order, delivery from the Race Communications warehouse in Moscow or within 4-6 weeks.
