Press release: Race Communications begins deliveries of the Vanguard 342 router.

Company Race Communications, one of the leading Russian system integrators, in February began accepting orders for the supply of Vanguard 342 multiservice routers to Russia. The new model expands the range of popular entry-level devices produced by the American company Vanguard Managed Solutions.

The Vanguard 342 is available in a compact desktop case with an external power supply. There are two 10/100 BaseT Ethernet ports on the motherboard, as well as Serial (universal programmable V.24/V.35/V.36/X.21, up to 2 Mbit/s) and console ports. The "heart" of the router is the RISC processor Motorola PowerPC, for OS storage flash memory with a capacity of 4 MB is used (expandable to 8 MB), S-DRAM RAM has a volume of 32 MB.

Two connectors are used to install standard daughter boards: for data transmission Serial, ISDN BRI Data, Fractional E1; for voice transmission over IP and Frame Relay boards 2/4 Port FXS, 4 Port FXO, 1 Port FXO/FXS, 2 Port E&M, ISDN BRI S0. Thanks to a wide range of interfaces, Vanguard 342 is able to serve the most common applications that are used today in enterprises, banking and trading structures, and providers.

“The presence of two built-in ports 10/100 BaseT Ethernet allows you to create on the basis of Vanguard 342 cost-effective solutions for the introduction of new IP services, - said Rafael Shamiev, Head of the Race Communications Product Department. - The network administrator gets the opportunity to allocate a "demilitarized" zone for Internet and public access applications, maintaining a high level of security of the corporate segment."

Like all Vanguard devices, the Model 342 runs the Open Networking System (ONS) operating system, which has a rich library of network protocols: IP, IPX, AppleTalk, SNA (IBM Mainframe networks), X.25, Frame Relay, PPP, Multilink PPP, etc. Thanks to advanced traffic management tools (Type of Service, Time of Week, prioritization by port number, protocol type, network addresses, etc.) Vanguard equipment increases the efficiency of using the available bandwidth of the communication channel.

In the voice gateway configuration Vanguard 342 supports the transmission of telephone traffic over IP networks (Voice over IP, VoIP) and Frame Relay (VoFR), voice compression using G algorithms.723.1 and G.729 (included in the H.323 standard). The implementation in the ONS OS of many functions inherent in modern PBX (multi -channel telephone, centralized table of numbers, conversion of telephone interfaces and alarm circuits) allows you to create on the basis of Vanguard integrated telecommunication systems with simultaneous transmission of multimedia traffic and data.

The retail price of the Vanguard 342 device in the minimum configuration in the Race company Communications is $2,290.
